In the middle of October, I had to start focusing on the layout of my magazine. I started to learn about pictures, copy, white space, internal margins, external margins, column design, eyeline placement, vertical axis, dominant photo, copy area, additional photos, and captions. Then, I started to learn about adding more information to a magazine via secondary coverage, along with the importance of visual and verbal connection involving the headline and dominant picture, and then the importance of micro and macro spacing. Then earlier in November, I studied about fonts. I did an assignment about selecting 5 different types of secondary coverage and explaining how the fonts I selected for each secondary coverage piece would add contrast, direct the text, incorporate raised and dropped caps, add to the use text wrapping and transparency, and would align the text.
